A Hearthstone Home This beautiful home built by Hearthstone Homes needed a landscape look that could prepare visitors for its incredible floor plan inside. A tiered planting bed was built out of wall stone to handle the steep grade to the left of the main entrance. This created a great space for a mixture of azaleas, crimson pygmy, and skypencil hollies. A lace leaf Japanese Maple with more than twenty years of age sits in front of the large window beside the main entrance. It is surrounded by azalea, nandina firepower, and elegant boxwoods. These plantings are surrounded by Colonial Stream Run gravel, which mixes gray colored smooth gravel with a sprinkle of maroon and bluish stones for color. This is one of the most graceful decorative gravels available. Not pictured are over 50 Chinese green sergeant junipers planted and mulched on the hillside behind the home. To break up the patterned junipers on the hill, we planted Carolina Red, Tonto Pink, and Natchez White crape myrtles. The lawn was graded and dressed with topsoil. Grass seed and straw was spread. Sprouting occurred after about 2 weeks.

Smith Residence The landscaping of this 'antique' home underwent a great transformation during the months of November 2006 through January 2007. NonStop Landscaping and the owners came up with great new styles while maintaining the rustic feel of the property. Form as well as function was key and this is the result. Behind the house was nothing but overgrowth and mud. This was remedied by cutting all of the brush, adding a 3 foot retaining wall, and graveling in the flat area to keep traffic out of the mud. The retaining wall is a dry stacked Allegany Wall Stone and the decorative gravel is a great chalet. Drainage components were installed to control run off. The door off of a bedroom was treated with a Mystic River Bluestone patio. This area is perfect for adding an outdoor table and chairs to enjoy the beautiful country views. There is also access from the wrap around deck. The largest task was installing the large Oakridge steps in front of the house. They sweep up towards the deck and give visitors a stairway that has low rise steps with plenty of tread space for safe climbing. Each step weights anywhere from 300 pounds to 1.2 tons! They rest on tamped gravel that is retained by a wall of South Bay wall stone. Top soil and mulch were added in the 'cove' for planting.

| Shortridge
Residence
This newly built home hardly had a full stand of grass on the bank in the back when the owner Mr. Shortridge decided that wash outs would be inevitable and mowing that steep of a grade would be near impossible. NonStop Landscaping was called in to offer solutions, and it was agreed that a retaining wall would help the situation while adding a stylish look to the home. Flowing curves were added to the wall to add character. The space between the drive and the wall creates endless possibilities for planting along the top. The correct angle of pitch was created with the blocks to ensure strength and durability of this particular height wall.

Residence
With a large home set off of the road several hundred feet, the owner of this home wanted to created a little more depth to the look of his landscaping. The before pictures shows the basic shape of the bed which was overgrown with weeds and had a flowering cherry tree that was struggling to survive. Depth was added with this raised bed with red block that contrasts perfectly with the 'washed' look of the brick on the house. The wall is one foot tall at its lowest point and 3.5 feet at its highest. The wall was back filled with 16 tons of soil, creating a custom raised planting bed. There isn't a straight side on this wall. The continuous curves will give an elegant look to the shrubbery that will be planted at a later date.
